What kind of preparation do I need before getting an airbrush spray tan?
You will need to shower, shave or wax and exfoliate prior to your spray tan. Do not apply lotion to your skin within 1 hour of tanning because the tan will absorb best on clean, fresh skin. Please note that people undergoing laser treatments are advised to avoid using sunless tanners on areas where laser treatments are ongoing. How long does the process take?
Our airbrush tan takes 7-10 minutes and you will be dry enough to dress in loose fitting clothing immediately after your tan. Our solution contains a bronzer for an immediate and visible sun kissed glow. After being tanned, avoid contact with water or sweating for 6-12 hours as your tan develops If need be, it is okay to sleep in your tan overnite and shower in the morning. Any bronzer residue will rinse out of clothing/sheets as long as they are washed within 48 hours.
How long will my tan last?
Ideally, your tan will last 7-10 days. After your first shower, moisturize your skin well night and day and avoid exfoliation to help extend the length of your tan. When you do begin to see your tan fade, then exfoliate to remove the remainder of your tan before tanning again. Chic Bronzing also offers tan extenders like Tan-in-a-Can which will prolong the life of your tan, particularly on areas where a person uses more beauty products on or washes more frequently--like face and hands.
What makes an airbrush tan semi-permanently change the color of my skin?
The solution that is airbrushed onto your skin contains a chemical called dihydroacetone (DHA) as the active ingredient. DHA is derived from gylcerin and interacts with with the amino acids in your dead skin cell to produce a brown color change. DHA is FDA approved, it is not absorbed through the skin into the body and has no known toxicity. DHA is present in any sunless tanner, even those sold over the counter. Our standard Chic Unique solution contains a 10% DHA solution which is a good color on all skin tones.
Will I be orange? No. Because Chic Bronzing has their tanning solutions specially blended for us, a Chic Bronzing airbrush tan will be odorless, will dry quickly without being sticky and will also develop on your skin to create a natural golden brown and healthy looking glow. Unlike the one-size-fits-all "Mystic" or "VersaSpa" machine operated sunless tanning booths, Chic Bronzing is operated by a professional who can adjust the amount of air pressure and solution for each individual skin tone and is applied evenly by hand with no streaking or dripping.
Will areas like my hands and feet look unnatural?
No. A Chic Bronzing airbrush tan is applied by the experts using top of the line professional airbrush equipment. With over 4 years experience, Marisa and Michelle have developed a strict and consistent method for the even application of their airbrush tan. Your tan will be applied so well it will look natural even in areas like the hands and feet. No one will ever know it's a spray tan!
Do you have to have an outdoor area for a mobile spray tan?
No. Our travel booths are portable and contain all over spray so we can tan you at any location--indoors or out! Also, Chic Bronzing has two convenient location with ample parking available for our clients.
What do people usually wear to get tanned?
Women tan in swimsuits, their bra and underwear, or most commonly--a thong. Women who are concerned with tan lines often decide to tan nude. Men wear either their swimsuit or underwear. If you are under 18, Chic Bronzing requires that a swimsuit be worn during the tan.
